Diff-mus vol.1 – Peterpan
Well I’m here with my first valid post…and guess what its related to music..lol..(sad one!)…i would like to introduce you all to an Indonesian band called peterpan…..they captured my attention about a months ago and they only play in their local language(i cant even pronounce a single word of whatever language they sing in) still as they say music breaks all barriers and this truly is one such case…no wonder they are Indonesia’s best band!
Their music is truly fantastic and at par with the best in the world ..you will understand that only after you hear them…the lead singer ariel has a magical voice and you cant call him anything short of magnificent , while the other members Ukie – guitars ,Loekman – guitars , Reza – drums are at their best to match up to ariel..I wont go on long telling you all about their achievements , history n stuff cause can find them at ….take a wild guess..yes you are right wikipedia ..lol…here is the link : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peterpan_(band)
Their songs have a totally different feel for instance when you hear Menghapusn Jejakmu you realise how different they are and trust me when i say that the language does not matter …and the same goes for Menunggumu..just give them a try and I can asure you that you wont regret it…for your convenience i have added the links to the downloadable version of some of their tracks..

Thanks a lot!..yep ‘kya mujhe pyar hai’ is a rip off from the song..they have another song ‘Di belan????’ which has the same tune as ‘Aao milo chale’ from jab we met…lol..:P but their other songs are at par!
Hah, Indian filmmakers gotta stop ripping off stuff this bad, just coz its pinoy doesn’t mean its allowed to be ripped off so bad, I mean whole tune is the same, jeez.
Peterpan is Indonesian most successful band (but not necessarily the best, I think the best ones are Padi and Dewa 19). I’m a Peterpan diehard fan. Recently I received messages from Indians, Pakistani and Filipinos who have just found out abt this band and fall in love with their songs. That would add up their already great numbers of fans, previously only from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei and East Timor. If language is the problem, you can search in youtube, someone nicknamed revknapp has uploaded Peterpan’s music video with english subtitle.

look at the bright side of the ripoff…..they actually became famous in india because of the ripoff……not many ppl wud no bout peterpan if it werent fr pritam……….as fr the post……gud atart…i liike the name razmatazz……..
Well I wont deny that and im not even against copying music…the only thing im against is that people dont give the orginals the recognition they deserve .They should buy the rights of the song before they copy it!
Actually, I don’t mind Pritam copying the songs but he should at least acknowledge from the very beginning that he doesn’t own the melody of the songs, that it was someone else’s hardworks.
Now you got me into thinking, Pritam didn’t create the melody, someone else wrote the lyrics, and the hired musicians arranged and created the musics, now what the heck is Pritam’s job???? Being a middleman??? and he got all those money?? Bloody.. as….e!!!

True , even i dont see what work pritam does , cause he just copies the music and passes it on to the lyricist and earns like hell .
By the way how do you know both pritam and peterpan , you certainly not indian right?
I’m Indonesian. But I love watching Indian movies, just like many other Indonesians. I love Aamir Khan and Shahrukh Khan. Pritam should have known that many people in Southeast Asia watch Indian movies (considering the diaspora of Indians and its culture in the region) and off course it’s only matter of time they would find out that songs from one extremely popular band in the region being copied by Pritam.
BTW, have you checked Peterpan’s best music video “Bintang di Surga”? Hell awesome. I still consider it as the best song, best lyrics, and definitely best music video of Peterpan. Peterpan’s live performance is getting better now after Ariel solved his personal problem. I hope they would produce more great albums in the future. But this year could be the last year they use the name Peterpan. They have to find a new name for the band, as it was the mother of Andika (ex-keyboardist and founder of Peterpan, fired from the band sometimes ago) who proposed the name.

I’m Indonesian, so I know Peterpan well. They are one of superbands here in Indonesia. Superbands or supergroups are the bands in Indonesia who sold at least one million copies in one of their best albums. Peterpan hold the record with the selling of Bintang di Surga album around 3,2 million copies (BTW, please take note that it’s the sale of original album, if you include the pirated one, it might be triple that amount). They are quite new compared to other superbands (usually it takes a long time and some albums to be admitted as superbands). Superbands usually have strong fanbase and each group has nickname for their fans. Peterpan’s fans are called Sahabat Peterpan (sahabat means best friend, taken from one of their song “Sahabat”). Despite their superstar status, they are known for being very humble and friendly with the fans.
BTW, I love Indian movies but not so much in touch with the recent ones. The latest Indian movie I watched was Kal Ho Na Hoo which is so old by your standard. I love Aamir Khan and Shahrukh Khan. I think SRK is the most charismatic actor in the world. But I don’t know much (and don’t care much) abt Indian music directors. In fact, I’ve never heard Pritam’s name until the case of the plagiarization of Tak Bisakah.

Back to Peterpan, you should see the video clip of Bintang di Surga, it’s hell awesome. I think it’s the best music Peterpan ever produced, with the best lyrics, the best video clip and from their best album (so far). Hopefully they would make a better album in the future and let the world know their talents.

Hey…I’m from the U.S. and ran across this. I listened to the song suggested. Very good music! I’m hooked now. Can’t stop listening to their music. I even started looking up more songs. Thanks for the info! Hope they come to the USA

the last i heard was that they wer working on a new album..really looking forward to that one!
They have released their last album, I mean their last album as Peterpan. For the next album they will use different name. They have to change the band´s name after some dispute with two former members (the current members now is only four, after Andika the keyboardist and Indra the bassist were fired).
Their latest and last album is title ¨Sebuah Nama Sebuah Cerita¨ meaning ¨A name a story¨. It´s their Best of the Best Album as it is a compilation of their hits with addition 3 new songs and 1 cover version of a song originally sung by Indonesian legendary singer.
Peterpan just had their first European gig (a small one) last saturday at The Borderline club in London. There, for the first time they sang their first English song, titled Hero.
You can check their performance in youtube. Apparently it was an awesome performance, as said by some of the audience in Peterpan´s official facebook.
Although Peterpan is not that popular anymore in Indonesia (as they have to compete with some new rising bands) but they started to garner more fans abroad, fans who don´t even speak Indonesian.

i really proud of this band. their songs can be accepted not only in my country but some of you in another country. Have you listen “kisah cintaku”? In english it means my love story. This is an old song, but they rearrange into such a beautiful melody. Hope they will make songs in english so you will know the meaning also.hehe. Thanks for loving their song. I love Ariel!!!
