Diff-mus vol.2-Them Clones
Before starting this volume of Diff-mus i would like to thank everyone for their encouraging comments and suggestions on the blog , which has given me the much needed inspiration to continue posting .
Well , in this issue i would like to bring to you something in the language you all are familiar rather than indonesian or japanese (some of them will kill me if i post an indonesian band again,lol) . This time it’s a band from my own land – India,though india is not famous for producing rock bands but i bet the scenario is going to change real soon and you will know the reason why!
The band in question out here is ‘Them clones’ , they might not be as popular as some other indian bands like ‘prikrama’ or ‘pentagram’ but their music certainly leaves them behind and its just a matter of time before they become as popular . The band has won almost every rock competetion out here in india and some international one’s also.
The vocals are handled by prithwish deb while joseph , gucci singh and deb take care of the guitars and surojit handles the drums. their name is said to be influenced from the track ‘them bones’ by alice in chains.Their primary musical influences are pearl jam , sound garden ,creed ,stone temple pilots , led zep , pink floyd etc. and ya they do live up to their standards!!
Their one defining song i feel is ‘Zephyretta‘ . It’s a soft rock song with a very subtle, different and delightingly fresh feel to it. It’s one of the best slow songs ive ever heard and as good as any international band while the song ‘Zoopertrip‘ is as good with its totaly different sound.Their other good songs include ‘in the name of god’ , ‘awaken’ , ‘black,white and gray’(their first single), and ‘wait for me’.

hi nikhil, it’s me again. After reading this, I checked out their songs in youtube. Awesome music (especially Awaken and In the name of God). I love it. But I don’t like the melody of the songs (sorry!). Now I’m going to check out Pentagram.

Pentagram’s song Voice sounds really cool, great lyrics. The guitar is awesome. They have style.
BTW, from the view count in the youtube I can see that pop-rock scene doesn’t have much fans in India, compared to the songs from Bollywood movies. Is is true?
I told you they were good , and yes yiur are right the pop rock scene out here is nothing compared to bollywood , not even a fraction of it…but its emerging…hopefully someday it will be as big as bolly music!
